David Devitt Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Hello! I have downloaded a slew of AutoCAD linetype files and have tried to "cut and paste" them into my acad notepad with no success - (maybe that's where I'm going wrong, right off the bat). Anyway, after pasting the lines of text into my notepad and saving the updated notepad, I return to AutoCAD only to find that the linetypes are not available for use. What is it that I am doing wrong? Thanks - Dave:cry: Quote
ReMark Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Did you use the correct file type extension (i.e. - .LIN)? Did you tell AutoCAD where to find this new file (i.e. - add the "path" to your Support files search path)? BTW...Notepad is a Windows feature not an AutoCAD feature. Quote
David Devitt Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 Yes, I think so. I inserted the new linetype text into the acad linetype notepad found in my enu subfolder. If it is useful, here is the line of test that I added: *FENCE1,---X----X----X--- A,.5,[X,pwrltshp.shx,s=0.05],.15 Maybe there is something wrong within it - I dunno Thanks, Dave Quote
David Devitt Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 Uhhh, no . How do I get there, in AutoCAD 2008, and what do I do when I am there? Quote
ReMark Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I think your fence linetype definition might be missing something like a shape file. Did you create or download a shape file? How do you get where? To the Options dialog box? You could type "Options" at the command line. Did you edit the default linetype file that comes with AutoCAD using Notepad? The file is named acad.lin. If so did you make a backup copy of the original file? Quote
BIGAL Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Type CONFIG then Remarks image above will appear add a directory wher you want to save all you bits & pieces. If you can not find pwrltshp.shp then use something like this see "G" change to "X" metric ? *GAS_MAIN,Gas main ----G----G----G----G----G----G-- A,40,-5.08,["G",STANDARD,S=1.8,R=0.0,X=-1.8,Y=-.9],-3 Also you need to "LINETYPE LOAD" to add linetypes to an existing dwg Quote
David Devitt Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Thanks for all the help ReMark! Quote
