pqphillips
pqp: Is it an armband for a futuristic warrior? Nice, but no. Maybe a sleeve of some type on a high-tech weapon? Precisely. It's a shroud for a lightsaber. Part of a gift you're designing (a vase) for Mother's day? HA!
ReMark
Won't AutoDesk Design Review open those types of files? Not that I would know what you would do with it then if that were the case.

SLW210
scj's site is perfectly legit and quite ok for linking here.
JD Mather
Nope. (Stupid 10 character minimum) Huh? (oh I get it - you wanted a simple Nope response) but it should be Yes, Nope is wrong. You should be able to open the *.dwfx with Design Review or simply with your browser (if using IE and Vista or Win7).

JD Mather
That's exactly what I am looking for. Unfortunately, AutoCAD won't open or import .dwfx files. You could download a free 30-day trial of Autodesk Inventor. If you do a lot of this work (or maybe even this single project) could cover the extra $1395 Emboss.ipt

pqphillips
Float him a loan JD? You professors must be raking in the big bucks. I could handle a loan, under certain conditions. If it 1) charges interest and 2) is expected to be paid back, I ain't interested.

SLW210
Thanks for the help, everyone. I got it all set up now. Glad you got it sorted! Do you mind sharing how you went about setting it up?
pqphillips
Glad you got it sorted! Do you mind sharing how you went about setting it up? Sure! I downloaded the Inventor trial, created the tube, and used the Emboss feature to do it. Easy Peasy (once I figured out where the Emboss command was). JD Mather
Sure! I downloaded the Inventor trial, created the tube, and used the Emboss feature to do it.... I did attach the *.ipt file up a few responses ago. You might download it and pull down the red End of Part marker to see how I did it. (I rolled up the EOP as a way of reducing file size - note that it also serves as a history where you can see step-by-step how something was created in Inventor.)
