2D views of the 3D model?

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to AutoCAD, I'm in fact just learning it for my studies.

Now I've managed to "design" a bridge and add textures etc.. Nothing as fancy as what most of you might be able to create but still learning.

Now, what i was looking to do, was print off 2D elevation and plan views of the bridge, but unfortunately the result is awful. Any tips?

Please see attached images.

Thanks for your help.

That's just a screenshot of the program rather than the output render. The 3D wireframe view seems to be a bit better but still not great

If all you want is 2D output then take a look at using Flatshot, SolProf, SectionPlane or BaseView.

Funny, on the Ribbon it is referred to as Base View (3D Modelling workspace > Annotate tab > Drawing Views panel) but the command is ViewBase. AutoDesk programmers...gotta love their sense of ???

It looks like you did not let the command finish its work. If you had this is what you text screen should have shown.

Command: viewbase

Specify model source [Model space/File] :

Type = Base and Projected Hidden Lines = Visible and hidden lines Scale = 1:2

Specify location of base view or [Type/sElect/Orientation/Hidden lines/Scale/Visibility] :

Select option [sElect/Orientation/Hidden lines/Scale/Visibility/Move/eXit] :

Specify location of projected view or :

Base view created successfully.

Actually the command is viewbase as one "word". Software programs are particular like that. 8)
