spinecad
I got a 3D model from friend of mine that consist of many assemblied objects. I open it in in my 3ds Max software. However, why when I select a certain one object, all objects are selected too? Also, when I move one object, all objects are selected too like they are binded and glued together and never release? Is there any method to separate them? Thank you
james120479
They are possibly grouped together. You could try selecting the objects then using the menu along the top, select GROUP_UNGROUP

james120479
If you select the object, how is it described in the modify panel to the right? There should be a description as to what type of object it is, if it is 'editable poly' or 'editable mesh' then you may have to detach by element to break up the objects. If you are able to upload the file I would be happy to have a look at it for you
Cad64
Here is a simple way to automatically break up a model into it's individual sub-elements. 1. Select the model 2. Apply an 'Edit Mesh' modifier 3. Switch to 'Element' selection mode and window select the entire model 4. In the 'Modify' panel, look for a button called 'Explode' 5. Set the amount to 180.0 and make sure you are set to explode to 'Objects', not 'Elements' 6. Click the 'Explode' button All the individual parts of the model should now be single objects that you can select and move individually.
