Section plane not working well

Hi All,

I have a big issue with section plane in AutoCAD Architecture 2014.

Im trying to use boundary section plane on a steel construction.

Everything is working well untill I press ctrl+s to save or save it in anyother way than I get message:

Command:

Command: _qsave Updating Indexes for block *Model_Space

Done.

Updating Indexes for block *Model_Space

Done.

and my drawing is messed up.

regen of the drawing is not helping.

What I need to do is:

-Turn off live section

-save as new file in 2010 version

-regen

-turn section plane back on

Its more than anoying to use it this way.

The last good working version of Autocad that I didnt had problems with is 2011. Section plane was working there without any issues.

Inconsistent face-body relationships.

Doesn't the above lead you to believe there is something not quite right with some part of your geometry?

Im using those models for 5 years and they where working well till 2011 version. 2012-2014 is nightmare with section plane.

I just tried to make simple solids and use section plane on them.... same effect.

I've used 2014 version for that and file where saved in 2013.

After when I saved it again Section plane stoped working....

Going mad here

I don't use SECTIONPLANE all that often but once I got squared away I was able to create a section plane and using the Menu Grip I cycled through the three available options of Section Plane, Section Boundary and Section Volume. Was there something else you'd like tested?

Addendum: I also created a 2D block using the SECTIONPLANETOBLOCK tool.

If the command fails in any drawing you use it in, even if it is a new drawing, then I would consider running the REPAIR option and see if that fixes the problem. I have yet to see anyone else who uses 2012, 2013 or 2014 posting here complaining about problems using the SECTIONPLANE command and seeing the error messages that you are.

So you are saying it is a problem with the program and it has been around for three full releases without being addressed? I find that highly unlikely. In my opinion it is either a problem with the drawing (which you also discount) or a problem with the use of the command. Who else in your company is experiencing the same problem? Would you be willing to share an actual (full) drawing created by you with someone here who is running AutoCAD Architecture 2012, 2013 or 2014?

CUBE TEST.dwg

I cant share my work . . . but i can make a simple drawing with solid and maybe I can show you what happend with it at my company, and we can see if you will have the same problem as I have.

At my office works 2 other designers and we all have the same problem.

Please let me know or send me back file that you made.

I'm not sure that I see what problem you are now referring to. Is it the CTRL+S you had me try earlier?

I'm more interested in someone running Architecture testing your drawing than me since I am not using that program. How else do we determine if it is a problem with the program or the operator?

BTW...I visited four other AutoCAD related Help forums so far and did not find anyone else mentioning a problem with Architecture 2012-2014 and the SECTIONPLANE command. You see how that might appear a bit unusual don't you?

Like I said before I'm working with 2 other guys that have same proplem . . . and yes ctrl+s is a problem after when Im doing a save my section plane is not working I know that sounds strange but that how it is.

Did you try the REPAIR option? Yes or No?

The problem certainly appears to be unique to your company as far as I can tell at the moment but I am still looking for someone else that experienced the same situation. I'll let you know if I find a problem of a similar nature posted anywhere else.

We're talking a network setup here right not three standalone computers?

Addendum: A quick check of the Discussion Groups for Architecture at the AutoDesk website turned up eight threads re: the SectionPlane command. None of them complained of a similar type of problem.

We only use network license file and installation where done seperatley for every PC. Only think that was loaded to all of them is customatization file (CUIX). to have same toolbars on the same locations.

I hate repeating myself. Last time...did you do a REPAIR of the installation or not?

Where are you located and where did you obtain your copy of AutoCAD Architecture 2014?

Are you on Subscription?
