It doesn't seem to work Dadgad.

Intrigued, but I can;t stop to play with it.

I used MATCHPROP in my image post, then 3DROTATEd it on the Y axis.

I like that when you double click it to edit it, it flips around to the current UCS

while editing. This is a system variable I know, but I have never watched it 3D rotate to edit,

it is usually just a 2D rotation to horizontal.

"If" you can figure out a method to select all the "flipped" texts, Turn them into a block, change the blocks Z scale to -1, then explode the block. The MTexts will still be in their original locations, but will now have a positive Z normal direction, so TORIENT should work.

A few different issues for sure.

Text all created on the 0 layer, in 2 different UCS.

It can be 3DROTATEd on the Y axis, and then ROTATEd by 180 degrees, but the

other text with the normal orientation is then reversed.

Too bad the miscreant in question didn't think to use different layers for the

UCS dependent text, or even different colors or some other property

which would make it easier to filter them.

The method I used on the first test drawing was OK for a single line of text or even a small amount of text (say half a dozen instances) but it would be too time consuming to use for a drawing with the amount of text shown in the second test drawing that was posted. And I have to agree with Dadgad re: use of layers or different colors, etc. in terms of making the drawing easier to work on. For the moment I am stumped.

I rarely go this far into the FILTER dialog menu, although I love the command, and have a bunch of saved filters I use regularly.

Digging down into the TEXT attributes you can find the NORMAL VECTOR as shown in the image, so they could be filtered out into 2 different sets and acted upon independently in that way, which would be a giant step in a virtual direction.

FILTER totally worked

1) Select all the texts

2) Apply FILTER for negative Z vector

3) BMAKE to turn the entire selection into a block

4) Change the block Z scale to -1

5) Explode the Block

6) TORIENT all the MTexts (most readable)

Masterfully done nestly!

Thanks, because as I am sitting here avoiding the drawings I need to finish,

I knew that it could be done.

FILTER is a very powerful command, once you learn how to drive it, and set up and

save some standard configurations for whatever kind of work one does.

Nice job guys.

And there you have it folks. That's why you need to join the CADTutor forum and not one of those other wannabes.

Glad we could help.

It just occured to me that should you want to put either of those

batches of text on their own layer, the best time would be before you

recombined them on the 0 layer, while they are still 2 distinct sets.

Should you later want to treat them as sets, rather than separate individual text entities. :)

Sorry to ruin it - How do I Apply FILTER for negative Z vector?
