rkent
I just learned or relearned an old method for showing obscured lines in a hidden 3D object. This only works for releases prior to OBSCUREDLTYPE being added. I am not sure when that was. Turns out in the old days you could have the hidden lines in a 3D solid show if you created a layer HIDDENA, where you have 3D solids drawn on layer A, you create a layer HIDDENA and set the color and linetype to what you desire. When you use the HIDE command the lines that would normally be hidden would show with the settings of HIDDENA layer. I don't know that I worked on any 3D that long ago so I don't think I ever made use of this. If anyone is running an old copy of ACAD perhaps you could try it out and report back? I have 2002 loaded here and it has OBSCUREDLTYPE in it so I can't try it out. Just curious how well it worked.
ReMark
Never heard of that trick but then again I did not start really looking into 3D until AutoCAD 2007. I have 2000 along with release 14 and 9 at work but none of them are loaded.
