Zigster Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I need to create an elevation profile (example below) of a Creek. I have a map with contour lines, and I've drawn a polyline following the path of the creek. The only way I can think to do it is to break the polyline at each intersection with a contour line and manually input the length of each line section and the corresponding contour info into excel. But this seems very tedious and I'm wondering if there is a better way to do it? The section of the creek I'm doing only crosses about 20 contours, but I might need to do another section in the future that might cross a hundred or more, so I'm wondering if there is a way to automate this process? I'm using AutoCAD 2014 Thanks! Quote
BIGAL Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Can be done by drawing a perp line and calculating all the crossing lines and getting the 3d pt then draw a continous pline. Better answer just get one of the freebie Civil programs out there. Try Cadtools ? Quote
Zigster Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Thanks, I tried Cadtools but couldn't figure it out so I just spent a couple of hours doing it the tedious way. Quote
BIGAL Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I had a lips at one stage to do it but can not find it would take a couple of hours to write and debug there is a bit involved depending on how automated the answer required. Search EZYSURF Quote
