dooleygav
Yea, i was on that, no real downloads or help there really, that site is just saying use solidworks or CAD or something!!
Cad64
You might want to give Blender a try.
shift1313
i dont know of anything free but Unigraphics NX6(most current) is designed for the auto and ship building industry. The surface modeling package with UGS is very good. It also has things built to help with car design. It is not an easy package to use but it can do everything from bodies, to interiors, making molds to form fenders etc. here is a screen shot with a few of the auto specific tool bars open. What are you trying to do exactly?

shift1313
what are you looking to do? do you just want "skin" representations of concepts or are you trying to actually model a car?
Raggi_Thor
http://www.freeship.org I have used this for small boats. It should be possible to design the exterior of a car also.
Raggi_Thor
I am a bit confused. Freeship was open source, then the developer made a new version and called it DelftShip. Another group is still developing the old Freeship(?) http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=140466
f700es
I'd say AutoDesk Alias Studio http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=6871131&siteID=123112 That or either Rhino. EDIT: Duh you said free. There used to be a PLE version. Are you a student? Maybe there is a student version.

Raggi_Thor
Regarding Alias Studio and Rhino: Is there any free software packages out there ...............! Rhino costs approx 900 Euros? You have a free demo version that lets you save 25(?) times. I think Rhino is the best choise, low cost and easy to use.
f700es
Yeah, I see that he wanted free, hence my edit. If he is a student he can get the student version of Rhino pretty cheap.
