Default drawing opened when starting AutoCAD

Recommended Posts

I know how to set my default drawing for QNEW in the files tab in the options. However, that is NOT the same drawing that opens when I just open AutoCAD for the first time that day. Is there another place I set that? It's inconvenient that I have to open CAD and then do QNEW in order to get the template file that I want to work from. Suggestions?

It sounds like you want to substitute your template file for the one that opens by default. Correct?

One option is to use the procedure outlined here...http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/open-autocad-with-a-specific-template/

The other option is to click on the file and open it that way.

Thanks for the link, I tried what they said and it opens my template, but there's an "error" message saying it cannot find the specified file. I don't understand the message since it still opens the drawing. Any ideas why that message might be popping up?

Nevermind, I got it to work :)

Thanks!

Did you test it a second time?
