Weird Problem with assembly

Would anyone here know what would make two parts literally fly away from each other during assembly? It is almost as if the zoom feature is out of whack. Example: A 1/4-20 screw being assembled into a 1/4 " hole, the assembly icon is selected, the hole is selected, and at the moment the screw shank is being selected, it literally flies straight up out of view of the monitor screen.

I have never encountered this before.

Thank you for listening to this nonsense.

No, oddly enough it is not a tapered edge, just a flat 1/4" plate assembled to a flat 5/8" plate with 4 1/4" screws, and 4 1/4" dowels. coincident. I can send the file if you wish

Sure send it over. Just a note that solidworks has battled for years on "flipping mates" so mates behavior is not consistent between versions or even service packs sometimes.

Chubarka, i responded to your email but will answer here as well for the benefit of anyone searching. The issue was that several parts in the assembly were far apart in XYZ. The first component was at a certain XYZ coordinate and sometimes based on the angle of the view when you insert a new component and what you are mating with, it will seem to fly away. Its typically an issue with the "bounding box" for the entire assembly.

The best thing to do when inserting new components is not to click on the screen(unless it has smartMates), but to just hit the OK checkmark. It will place its part origin at the assembly origin which is hopefully where your first component is.
