bjenk8100
Hello, I have been doing 2D/3D modeling for awhile now so I know the basics in most programs. Still somewhat new to Inventor. For fun I am designing a typical non complicated bench vice. Right now I have three parts in an assembly. 1) Fixed Vice end. 2) Moving Vice end. 3) Screw Shaft that moves the moving vice end. I have the screw/shaft constrained to moving vice end by axis (hole in vice ends for screw) which works perfect. I want it to be fixed by axis but able to move in and out and be able to spin. I cant figure a way so that the screw cannot go through the moving vice end after the threads though. I played around with mating and then doing the min/max feature with no luck. Any other ways? Any help would be great! Tnx
bjenk8100
Figured it out! Inventor has some glitches I find. It works if I surface mate before flush mate. I like this program just wish it had autocad commands in sketch mode. Seems as if all these 3D programs are programmed against that which I understand. The fully constraint thing changed my way of drafting with solidworks and continues with Inventor. Anyone really use IFeature? Granted I typically never draft the same type stuff in 3D. 2D was different with autocad cause we drafted the same stuff all the time and blocks made companies able to get rid of people. Next gotta get Microstation training. I hear its a disaster. Peace, BAJ
