Bill Tillman
One for the ages here. I'm working with a new client and they gave me a nice workstation but it has some drawbacks. Besides the video card always wigging out (I opened the box and reseated it in the slot and that seems to have resolved that issue) but today my Dynamic Input stopped working. Why in the heck it got disabled I don't know. Someone worked on this box over the weekend (proof available for those who deny it) but so far no one is taking credit for it. Anyway, Dynamic Input has stopped working. So I press the F12 key over and over again and nothing happens. I suspect the keyboard may be bad but it's a wireless one so I can't just swap it out with someone else without getting the USB key for it. I checked and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this with a command or LISP. Anyone got an idea. I will wait until this evening when everyone goes home and then swap out the keyboard to see if another one has a working F12 key. It's always something isn't it. UPDATE: A cold boot seems to have blown out the cobwebs. It's all working now. But 10 minutes later the problem showed up again. I will speak with the client about getting a new workstation. This one is running Windows 7. Edited October 2, 2018 by Bill Tillman
CyberAngel
I can toggle Dynamic Input with a button on my Status Bar. It's next to Show/Hide Lineweights. I can right-click on the Status Bar. That gives me a menu with Status Toggles as a submenu, which brings up all the function-key toggles and other goodies. There's room for all of them, and I like to be able to check quickly when something accidentally gets turned on or off. Edit: sorry about the hardware issues, hope it works out. Cad64
You might want to check out the DYNMODE system variable. There are several settings to choose from and you can put it in a lisp routine or run it from the command line. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2018/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-1ED138FF-2679-45C4-9C2C-332A821C9D12-htm.html I wonder if you're running any lisp routines that are disabling DYNMODE and not turning it back on? Bill Tillman
CAD64, Another LISP running DYNMODE commands isn't possible. I only run a limited amount of my own code here and DYNMODE is not on the list of environment settings I tweak around with. This computer is very sporadic and the problems it has are intermittent. Add to it the darn UPS is limping along on an old battery and it goes out at least 2-3 time each week. And the slightest power spike sends into oblivion. The client promises to update what I need. BIGAL
Sounds like maybe supply your own pc/laptop and charge them an $1/h, the laptop solves the power out problem for at least say 1/2 hour.

Sounds like you've got a real lemon of a computer. At least the client seems willing to upgrade.
