Interesting problem various ways, for me draw hor and ver line 2.25 draw 45 135 line 2.25.

I need help with this drawing. I don't even know where to start. Help Please!!!!!!

Don't panic. This is a drawing exercise, so look at the diagram and see what information is given to you.

I see straight lines, one dimension, and a central point that has eight lines coming to it at equal angles. All the angles between the lines and the length of the lines look similar, so assume that is so.

So the exercise is to draw lines of length 2.25 at angles that are 45°. So to my mind that would involve using the Line command, the Endpoint Object Snap and the Polar Tracking set to 45°. Also drawing all these lines one by one (it is an exercise) will allow you to develop a good eye-hand relationship to guide your cursor about the drawing.

A good a place to start from is the centre. Draw the lines and keep an eye on the screen to observe the polar tracking guide lines.

At this time, forget all the advanced ways of drawing this. Just draw lines.

Thank you so much. I'm going to do this and hope for the best. One of my classmates used the mirror command, would you recommend this?

More than likely that would save you about half of the time and effort, as with the exception of the single non symmetrical line which BIGAL suggested was a mistake.

I think not, and the whole rest of the drawing certainly appears to be symmetrical about the centerlines of both the X & the Y axii, as well as diagonally from corner to corner.

Good luck with it.

So many ways to create this drawing. Using mirror you only need draw 3 lines (not all at once), draw the first line (2.25) use the rotate command with the copy option, and from there you can place the rest of the 2.25 lines for one quarter just using mirror. Finally the remaining two different length lines, and again use mirror, but not all in that particular order.

There are so many ways to draw this. Another way is to insert the image into a drawing, scale it up, offset anywhere that is needed and then trim merrily away!!!

I was trying to avoid leading the OP down the rabbit hole, as per Eldon's earlier suggestion.

A fun looking exercise, or puzzle actually.

Leads me to wonder what would be the least number of commands/clicks to bring it to fruition?

I am pretty sure that somebody will improve on that, most likely by using MOCORO command, which I am too lazy to learn right now!

I thought that the shape could lend itself to a hatch pattern, so I started writing one. But priorities changed and I have only managed to write half. But changing the hatch angle to 90 enabled the whole pattern to be drawn.

So I claim two clicks

👍

If you where to just draw the square first, that would add 2 clicks but look tidier, and don't forget that last stray line, another 2 clicks (or could you fit that into the hatch pattern as well 🤯

Deliriously devious Eldon, we would expect no less, save the absent line as mentioned by steven-g.

Presumably would lose to one who might opt to Xref it in?  :fishing:

I am certainly happy to see that you came up with an appreciably more inspirational approach than

that which you espoused earlier, with all that tedious Trimming!

The OP's head will be spinning when he sees how we have lead him down the garden path!

One of the things I love so much about Cad work is that everybody comes up with ways that work for them,

and the possibilites are endless.

Eldon how did you make the hatch pattern ? Separate post.

That would make a great TUTORIAL, as this hatch is pretty complicated!

Damn, I forgot, we will need to learn the Secret Fraternal Handshake before he will be allowed to let the CAD out of the bag!

I have a couple of other assignmentsI'm having trouble with as well. When I get this one done I'll put another one up if y'all don't mind helping. Your help on this one was invaluable.
