creating workplanes

Hello petermashumba, welcome to the CADTutor forums.   :)

Did you mean to post this in the Autocad 2D drafting forum?

While I understand what you are describing, "workplanes perse" are not really part and parcel of AutoCad,

nor are there any Workplane Toolbars or Panels, as far as I know.

In AutoCad your workplane is basically defined by your current  UCS.

Perhaps the following Tutorial might shed some light on your question.

There are VIEW toolbars and Panels, as well as the ViewCube.

Perhaps those would be helpful for you.

If you are working in a Viewport and you have your Viewport Controls turned on (by default they are turned on)

Working within a Viewport you can also change your View and Visual Styles using them.

I hope that helps you.

Great, I was afraid you had misposted and might have been talking about another software with which I am unfamiliar.

Glad it helped you.  There are lots of great resources in the TUTORIALS section of the forum.  :)
