Background mask default size

You can change the size anywhere from 1.0000 to 5.0000.

Double click the Mtext to enter the editor

Right click and choose "Background Mask" from the pop up menu

Check the box that says "Use Background Mask"

Set the "Border Offset Factor" anywhere from 1 to 5

Oh, that wasn't clear in your initial question.

I thought you just wanted to know if there was a way to change it.

no I'm pretty sure he said change the "default" size.

Anyhoo, has there been any change in this in the past 2 years? Can we change the default size yet?

While it might not be possible, there are a few alternatives that work perfectly fine.

One option is to use a multileader.  In the default text window you would need to add something in there.  Then while you are adding your default text add a background mask at the desired size.

From that point forward when u insert an mleader with that specific style it would have that sized background mask.

And if you just want the text, just remove the leader.  You can still align and justify the text wherever u want just like an mtext.

Another option would be to use a block with attribute definition.

I had a thread last year where I discussed how you can add background mask to an attribute definition.

But you would then be able to use that block wherever u want and have the background mask at that desired size.

So I guess it's possible it's just a matter of configuring your standard template.
