I have a problem with missing text in autocad 2005, which I use at work:

I have discovered that the text is missing in all our drawings/files - this is both Multilinetext and Dimension-text :?

I have recently installed a hotfix:

Hotfix - Autodesk 2005 OE,

Published date: 2006-Mar-22

ID: DL7047376

because we had some problems with some drawings from acad2008, saved as acad2004, and opened in acad2005, is this maybe what's causing the text-problem? And how do I uninstall a hotfix, if this is the case?

We have some text in the layouts (Attributes) which are showing, and I was able to copy this into model-space, explode it to mtext and edit it so i could use it, but i hope this is not the only way to do it - and we are especially missing the dimension-text!

Can anyone help?

The hotfix you refer to was only meant to suppress the unneeded error messages when working with files created in 2007 and saved back to 2004. The readme file did not mention anything about missing text.

When did the problem first occur?

Do you get any type of error message regarding the missing text entities? If so, what is the exact nature of the message?

Try _PROXYSHOW = 1, also, try a regenall. Could the text style or font be missing?

Hi! Thanks for the quick answers :)

ReMark: I'm not sure when the problem first occured, or if it was just after installing the hotfix or later... I don't get any error messages when I try typing text or anything at startup, only the normal:

"Specify first corner:

Specify opposite corner or [Height/Justify/Line spacing/Rotation/Style/Width]:"

but i'm not able to type any text in the mtext box and all the existing text is missing in modelspace.

SLV210: Tried it, but nothing helped :( The font is still in my fonts-library (Windows XP) and I tried with other fonts as well...

It's a great mystery.... But an annoying one :(

Would you be willing to email a copy of the drawing to me or another interested forum member?

You don't need a hotfix. I had the same or similar problem. If you're still having trouble with text printing (over a year and a half later), or to anyone having this type of problem, check your font type in your font style. I figured this out by changing the font style to a style with an shx font first to resolve the issue. After that, I went back to my desired font style and changed the font from a truetype font to an shx font that was as close as I could get to the truetype font (in my case, I substituted bold.shx font for Arial).
