AZsurveyor Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hi, I have been using a custom description key file to assign points to different layers. I have just switched from 2008 LDD to using AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2009. Now that I have changed to the 2009 software, the description key file doesn't seem to be working. Imported points no longer get sorted onto layers and the raw descriptions are not getting translated into full descriptions. All settings appear to be correct, or at least the same as they were before my upgrade, when the description keys were working. I am most concerned with getting the points on the right layers. I don't really care about the description key symbols or blocks. Any help is greatly appreciated. Quote
Strix Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 do you still have access to the civil packages? can you do a SAVEAS to vanilla? Quote
AZsurveyor Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 :huh:Say what??? I don't think I'm familiar with what you're talking about. I'm not saying I can't do it, but before I figure it out, would you mind elaborating on how you think "SAVEAS to vanilla" will help. Quote
fuccaro Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Replace the word vanilla with plain AutoCAD Quote
AZsurveyor Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Ah, I see. So yeah, I still have the civil packages, and LDD saves files as Autocad dwg files already. I can save as versions back to 2000 and export to R12, but I don't see how this will help. I still have to open any file I use through this new software. Mind you, the files I am working with are already years old. I didn't have this problem until I tried to use them with Civil 3D 2009. Quote
smorales02 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Maybe its just a software issue. have you looked on the autodesk website for maybe a hotfix or something..? Quote
rustysilo Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 If you are using Civil 3D as opposed to the Land Desktop Companion product then you will set this up in the point and point label styles if I'm not mistaken. Quote
AZsurveyor Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 So, I was going crazy trying to figure out which settings were keeping the points from getting sorted by the description key file. Turns out all my settings were the same, but some of the data file paths on the network got changed when we installed the new software. I had to change the Style files path under Label Settings, General tab. Quote
