AllieEatsSushi Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Hey everyone, I have an issue that I can't seem to figure out. I really hope y'all can help. You know how in the newer CAD releases you can click the wheel of the mouse and zoom and pan at the same time, and you don't have 2 hit ESC to continue on with whatever you are doing??? Well, for the first few weeks I have been working here I had a DELL mouse, and it wasn't working (other co-workers told me it wouldn't zoom and pan at the same time like usual) so I didn't even bother with it. I messed around with the settings and tried to customize it by going to Tools, Customize, Interface, Mouse Buttons, Click, Button 3, and I changed it to pan... So basically, for 3 weeks now, I have been using the mouse wheel to command me into pan, but then I have to either ESC or right click-exit to get out of it, much like older releases. It's SO annoying!!! And such a waste of time!! Not to mention my mouse at home is regular so I get used to one way, then have to get used to the other when I'm at work. Anyways, they finally bought me a new mouse today, but I still can't get the mouse wheel to pan and zoom without having the previous problem. Wow, I hope that makes sense. Any ideas??? If you know what I'm talking about, (since I basically wrote a short novel explaining myself) lol, It would be a GI-NORMOUS help if y'all went to Tools, Customize, Interface, Mouse Buttons, and told me what y'all have there, I'm pretty sure it's button 3. ReMark Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Have you checked mouse settings in the Windows' Control Panel? Quote
AllieEatsSushi Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Have you checked mouse settings in the Windows' Control Panel? No, what should they be set at?? And how exactly do I go about doing that?? Thanks for replying. Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Before answering your follow-up question please try pressing the "Ctrl" button and while holding it down scroll the wheel. What happens? Well, I'm using Windows XP. I click on Start then Control Panel. Now I have Classic View rather than Category View as my default. I look at the list to the right and double-click on Mouse. This will bring up the Mouse Properties dialog box. Quote
AllieEatsSushi Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 When I press control and then scroll, my text changes sizes while scrolling. I was advised to try typing MBUTTONPAN in the command line, and setting it to 1. I'm not at work anymore though, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning and let y'all know if it works. If you have any other suggestions. I'm all ears Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 MBUTTONPAN Default setting is 1. Controls the behavior of the third button or wheel on the pointing device. 0 - Supports the action defined in the customization (CUI) file. 1 - Supports panning when you hold and drag the button or wheel. Jay C Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 i know there was an option under control panel under mouse scrolling it was called "use Microsoft office 97 scrolling" i would alawys have to have that check if i wanted my mouse to zoom. here is another option http://snafder.blogspot.com/2008/07/autocad-2008-scroll-wheel-not-working.html Quote
SuperCAD Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 What brand of mouse did you purchase? If it's a Logitech, you can open the SetPoint software are configure your buttons there. I think the most important setting for your scroll wheel is to have it set to either "generic button" or "middle button" function. Anything else will cause it to act weird. I ran into this problem a long time ago and it was driving me nuts. Quote
