just about to enrol on C&G 4353 and noticed they do an advanced course, has anyone done it and if so how much prior knowledge of cad is required as i have been self studying using george omura's book. i am ok with grips, dynamic input, osnaps, polar tracking, blocks, layers and arrays. the areas i have not studied are xrefs plotting and layouts, adding text, fields and tables, and dimensions. i would rather do the advanced if i am allowed but do not want to struggle keeping up especially if its a fast paced course. would appreciate any comments from people who have done it

Are you on about thinking doing the 3d modeling Module of the course as well?

Will you be going full time to study or day release?

right, if it just 2d level 3 then you SHOULD be alright, as when I did the course I was stayin at a residential college and did all 3 modules in 1 yr, but that was with 3 day a week classes, - the course itself isn't too bad, when i first started it I didn't even know what autocad WAS!!!

as long as they're starting you on 2d level 2 workin up to 2d level 3 i don't THINK you'll have a problem, however the best thing to do is ask the tutor's at the college and see what they say,

Which college you goin to? because if it's doncaster you'll be in a better position to learn as they are the people who produced the books I worked from

(Sorry don't know how far leicester is to doncaster never was good at geography! :))

But having said thatas long as the college you're going to has the appropriate resouces and the tutors are ok you should be ok anyhows, but again i would say talk to the tutors first.

You might find the class is a mixture of "levels" and you might pick up some extra tips from others in your class. (It is the way the college I used to work it did it)

If you are doing any cad work at work, you should be able to get ahead of the class/find the course relatively easy.

Good luck with your course :)
