rkmcswain Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 2004 did not have a CUI file. Do you mean the MNU or MNS file from 2004? Are you using the MENU or MENULOAD command? Quote
marcus_speed Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 when i load it on 2004 i use a cui file. it didnt originate from 2004. the guy i work with gave me the stuff for it. im not sure how he did it. but its never given me a problem until now. i used the menu command Quote
ReMark Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 AutoCAD 2004. Nope. No CUI file. Here's what AutoDesk has to say: MNU Original ASCII menu file, the file you normally edit or create. MNC Compiled menu file; a binary file that contains the command strings and menu syntax that define the functionality and appearance of the menu or other interface element. AutoCAD compiles this file when you load an MNU file for the first time. MNR Menu resource file; a binary file that contains the bitmaps used by the menu or other interface element. AutoCAD generates this file each time it compiles an MNC file. MNS Source menu file; an ASCII file that is the same as the MNU file but does not include comments or special formatting. AutoCAD modifies this file each time the contents of the menu file change. MNT Menu resource file. This file is generated only when the MNR file is unavailable, for example, read-only. MNL Menu LISP file; contains AutoLISP expressions that are used by the menu file. AutoCAD loads this file into memory when a menu file with the same file name is being loaded. Source: AutoCAD Help. ReMark Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 When we went from 2004 to 2007 we managed to bring along our customized menu file via the Migration Tool. Used the same method when we made the jump from 2007 to 2009. Quote
marcus_speed Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 hmmm. i am using a lisp file. i coulda sworn that i was also using a .cui file as well. so when i try to upload it(.cui) is it doing nothing and my lisp is doing it all? well, damn. the way i have it set up, it has no toolbars, and a few more drop down menus. but when i put in acad 08 i had to manually enter shortcut commands. marcus_speed Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 that may have been what i used. thanks for the input Quote
ReMark Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Again, from AutoDesk: Upgrading Made Easy AutoCAD 2009 makes upgrading smoother with in-product migration capabilities that automatically transfer your files, settings, preferences, customized menus, and LISP routines from previous versions of AutoCAD software—helping you get up and running quickly. ReMark Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I suppose it could have been a LISP routine. It should work as long as you are going from an older product to a newer product unless a command or two was dropped or changed in some manner (has been known to happen). I would not expect it to work if doing just the opposite. Quote
