rookie37 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 There must be an easier way than the way I'm doing it When I want to rotate a veiwport I mvsetup align rotate then I play with angles until it looks about right The trouble is the angle is absolute. Rotating 90 is easy but sometimes I play with it until it ends up as 53.7 deg I then make a copy for another drawing but want to rotate it 5deg different from the 53.7 deg At the moment, I do the math but there must be an easier way Quote
Dipali Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 double click inside the viewport & us 'ucs>n>3point' option and once done don't forget to save it with name so that you can restore it back anytime. also lock the viewport Quote
chulse Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 There are several ways to do it. I try to avoid the math so what I do is make a line that follows my desired x axis. Then UCS > Object and select that line. Then PLAN > Current UCS. Usually I will return the UCS to World when I am done. DVIEW > TWist is another method... Quote
jonesy Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 As is 3dOrbit (I find using this method very easy) Quote
khama Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 UCSFOLLOW will work.. type UCSFOLLOW and set it to 1. Go to the viewport and align the UCS to the line. (The view in the viewport will now be in line.) type UCSFOLLOW and set it to 0. Thats it.. Quote
rookie37 Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 Unfortunately I can only do it through mvsetup as I cannot adjust the ucs Quote
nocturne00 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Adjusting the UCS would only be temporary, just toggle to UCSworld after you have rotated the viewport to reset the coordinates to its original state Quote
nocturne00 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 As is 3dOrbit (I find using this method very easy) but this method doesnt rotate a viewport with a precise angle of rotation Quote
Tiger Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 DVIEW > TWist doesn't change the UCS. Quote
