could someone please tell me how to display hidden details in Autocad 2008?

Do you mean how to show hidden lines?
Hidden parts of a viewed object can be shown using hidden lines. The old drafting board standard I was used to had the lines .125" (1/8th) long separated by a space of approximately .09375" (1/32nd). In AutoCAD you can use the HIDDEN linetype.
