Default lighting in 3d resulting in washed out colors

Hi all,

I'm drawing a building that I will be looking at from several straight views (top, right, left, etc.). However, when I go to these views there is some sort of reflection that alters the colors. I'm not rendering it, so I'm wondering why it isn't just displaying the colors as they're supposed to be. The default lighting scheme is cool because when you do 3d orbit, some of the sides are shaded and it shows the depth. For my present purpose, though, I need to eliminate all that and just have it display the colors I selected. Any ideas on what setting I need to change?

Thanks in advance!

Could you post a screenshot of what it looks like

Here it is... notice that looking straight down on the roof shows two different colors because of the lighting.

when you set your shademode there is an option for preferences. in there you can select what the material displayed is. Im not sure about a shadows/materials option though.

I'm using 2006 and don't see an option in shademode other than the standard wireframe/hidden/gouraud/etc. I was able to manipulate the materials by going to options>system>current_3d_graphics_display>properties but seemed to be getting in over my head.

Is there no way to just turn off the default light and shading in 3d views? I'm trying to make it so you just see the raw colors I've selected, no matter what angle you're looking at the building at.
