Hi Guys,

I just installed 3ds Max 2008 and was wondering why everytime i try to render after importing a model from Autocad or sketchup, the model appears to be lacking faces at different points. What is the reason for this? Or is it my graphic card ( NVidia 6150 Le)? windows vista home premium? Someone please advice.

It's not your graphics card or your operating system. I also encounter this problem sometimes. I've never tried importing anything that was created in Sketchup, but Autocad files can sometimes Import with missing, or flipped, faces. This is usually a result of poor geometry in the CAD file. If you UNION or EXTRUDE, and end up with overlapping geometry, this will cause problems. Make sure your geometry is clean before Importing to Max and you should be fine.

well most of the time I see the faces in the viewport but when the render window pops out, i realise some parts of the model are actually missing.

sad. Wonder what it is?

cheers
