vinod Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Dear All... How can I draw the irregular slot along cylindrical part.. Quote
shift1313 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 haha:) i only laugh because i did a project a few years back that had a sine curve path like that and it was awful to draw!!!!! I couldnt do it in autocad and ended up using another software package. What i ended up doing in autocad to get close was use a spline and swept along the spline. what software do you have available to you? Quote

shift1313 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 i havent tried this with inventor but i imagine it will be very difficult. Is that the only software you have access to? I drew mine in unigraphics. If you were using acad 07-09 you could draw your path(the hard part) and sweep along the path. Is your path a single sine curve sweep? meaning is there one high spot and one low spot? this makes it easier. You could draw that in 3 pieces. draw a cylinder and then perpendicular to this you will draw your cut. (which you will draw half of it and mirror it about the x and y axis). i drew this in cad real quick to show you. its really going to depend on what your path actually is. Can you give me a little more info on what the path needs to be Quote
