I would like to learn Inventor 2008. What would be a good book and/or website to get me started?

Thanks,

you can check the autodesk website. they have good tutorials on some of their other software. This website has a good knowledge base as well. Is there something you want to do with the software? If you open it up there is lots of good help info built in.

I would like to learn the basics so as to be able to create parts, assemblies, and drawings. I have been able to create a few simple parts using the built-in Help menu, but I feel that I might be able to pick it up faster, if I have some parts to model step-by-step.

there are a bunch of preloaded assemblies, some very cool stuff, that should get your mind going. I am decent with the solid parts, assemblies, animation and fea stuff but i havent tried to model anything freeform yet. One of the preloaded parts is an electric shaver. Its pretty impressive.

that is impressive, as are the engine and suspension. i'm sure i'll pick up a few things by "reverse engineering" some of the sample files.

There are a lot of resources out there for learning inventor.

I can't post websites here yet (I'm just setting up a bunch of posts so I can soon).

But if you go to sdotson . com (look up sean dotson inventor) look in the forums under tutorials. That site allows users to post websites and I've posted all my favorite tutorials.

The book that I used was Autodesk Inventor inside and out. But there are lots of them.

Just go up one level (click on Autodesk Inventor in the chain) and at the top will be a button for 'new thread'

On the menu bar in Inventor, just next to a help icon there is a visual syllabus icon. Click it and discover a lot of useful animations teaching you things.
