Extrude to surface?

Hi Folks.

Is there any way I can extrude a sketch up to a surface like you can in solidworks?

Basically I have a shape drawn on the front plane and I have a lofted surface running at an angle to the front plane. I want the shape to extrude up to the lofted surface.

TIA.

Thanks Shift, that was the answer.

In solidworks I can simply extrude cut up to surface however there are a few more steps to the process in ACAD.

Am I doing this the most efficient way?

Picture a square block. I have drawn a lofted surface through the middle of it at an angle to the front and left plane. This will form a face on the solid.

I draw a shape on the front plane and extrude it through the block.

I trim the newly extruded solid using the surface I drew earlier.

I subtract the remaining part of my trimmed shape, from the original block leaving the lofted surface visible.

there are probably more ways to do it but that seems good to me. It is really hard to visualize(for me) what you are saying though.

The approach in Acad is usually draw the base object(say your block) and draw the negative of what you want and subtract it from your base. Depending on what your goals are you can model some pretty neat things using surfaces and then later go back and convert them to solids. Acads surface package isnt exactly what solidworks and other packages are but its gett a lot better in the last few revisions.
