Frames For MTEXT

Is there a way in AutoCAD 2009, to enter MTEXT without first making the frame? I am never sure how big I need the text box.

Not that I know of. But does it matter how big you make the box? The box is not something that shows when the MText is done, and if you want you can simply (after you've exited the command) click-n-drag on the blue grips to change the size of the box.

Multiline Text needs a width to be defined before it can start. That is how it has been organised. After entering text, the width can be altered, and the length extends itself anyway

If you pick the starting point of the text, then right click and set the width to 0 (Zero) then you shouldn't be asked for the other corner.

The problem with 0 width mtext is there are no grips to adjust the width. You have to use properties and give it a width before you can adjust it with the grips. No width, no word wrap.

Thanks, I do lots of text and want to use the background screen feature and was trying to get out of adjusting every textbox so not to have half the drawing screen:wink: , but looks like I will have to it the hard way.
