Hi, I was wondering if there is a simple way to do the following:
There is an AutoCAD 2007 installation on a server -- 3 users accessing it.

Here's the objective:
We would like to have all CAD files stored in two separate folders on the server. One for files in progress, and one for master files;
Setup an e-mail alert to the design manager to clear files from a queue and post them to master files.
Any non-master files to have a watermark ("not for production use") when printed or viewed
Is something like that possible?

if not, what is the simplest solution for multi-user version control?

Thank you for your time.

One option would be to use a "vault-like" system where the drawings are checked in/out. If someone other than the person who is editing the drawing requires access it would be in read-only form. There are a number of software solutions available.

thank you -- this is what I have in mind.

Would you be kind enough to provide the names of a few of the software solutions you refer to? the simpler, the better.

I recall a very interesting product, which was acquired by Dassault systems - unfortunately I cant remember the name..

AutoDesk Vault

"Another Autodesk software free for download is Autodesk Vault. It lets you coordinate working documents and synchronizes design-related efforts. Autodesk Vault is a data management tool that can be intergrated with most Autodesk software. It uses a checkin/checkout concept that ensures only one person is editing a file at a time."
