Trim the viewport

Hi. Can I split viewprot in layout in order to see two ends of 12 meter beam without middle part?

the standard method of doing this would be to create 2 viewports side by side, each one containing one end of the beam. you would then put a breakline between them indicating the middle bit is missed out

This is a standard method. But how to dimention it in Paper space? If I put dimention line between its ends in Paper space it will not show correct dimention.

indeed the number will be wrong. you could manually correct this by using text override in the text's properties. i admit this isnt ideal if you have many dimensions to correct

Yes, this is one of the rare occasions where overriding the dimension is necessary.

This is the workaround I have found, the nice thing is the dim will be updated if you stretch the length of the object.

In your example I drew a line along the length of the object in MS since it is a rectangle, then in PS I place a dimension, then edit the dimension and right click and insert a field, use Object as the field, select the line, set the units, etc., and pick ok.
