nicnicman Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 For some reason I can not Revolve this profile of a lamp. The command line reads "Unable to revolve selected object" The object is one Pline. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. LampProfile.dwg Quote
SEANT Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 AutoCAD’s solid modeling kernel uses a different level of precision than other, more native (i.e., 2D), geometric entities. Consequently, small slivers which are fine for Plines will cause a modeling failure for 3DSolids. See the problem area in attached. Once that switchback is fixed, the profile revolves as expected. nicnicman Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Is there a quick way to find these problem areas because I can't even find the one you pointed out. Quote
SEANT Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 By their nature, the anomalies tend to be small in size – thus rather difficult to find. Exploding the Pline and using Quickfind, with a sufficiently small length or arclength as criteria would help the search. Incidentally, if you zoom out to see the “Fixed” profile, the switchback is in the area of the word but in the profile on the left. It is quite small, for sure. Quote
nicnicman Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Wow! I found it. Thanks a lot. Those are some great tips. Quote
mugshot Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 actually, sometimes you cant revolve 'coz of line problems, i have resend your file and pinpoint the problem, try to join the "z" point and then revolve it again. Quote
