Units automatically changed when opened with Autocad Architecture 2009

I am using Autocad Architecture 2009. when I am opeining a METRIC unit dwg file with Autocad Architecture 2009 it automatically converts to Imperial units. The files are opening fine in rest of the AutoCAD versions. So could anyone please suggest me what is the problem behind this issue. Is there any particular system variable needs to be changed or any autoCAD default settings needs to be check.
