grain Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 What is the convention when a companies drawings are ammended. Who do you say its 'Drawn by'? If I take an architects/engineers drawing and produce an 'As fitted' drawing with our electrical companies titleblock etc. Thanks Quote
dbroada Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 wherever I have worked, CAD & manual it has always been the person changing the drawing who gets the "credit". There should also be some level of checking/approving, especially if the draughtsman isn't fully competant at that level. Quote
hotrodz0321 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 we've done similar things here at my firm.....in the "drawn by" section of our title block we put OUR employee that put that sheet together....but we add a note stating that the actual drawing was created by "INSERT FIRM NAME HERE" and we usually list the project/drawing number and the date of their drawing and we have a space in the revision block that says who it was revised by...the "drawn by" never changes......just because alot of the time the changes are so small that it wouldnt constitute them getting the credit....if major design changes are made then yes.. grain Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 Thanks for your feedback. I have to slowly build a policy document so that we have some kind of consistency with stuff like this and graphic styles etc. It would be very helpful if anyone had one I could see. To save me re-inventing the wheel. (Hope I dont appear to be getting to demanding) Quote
BOB'27T Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 We put the bosses initals on the drawing first, then our initials. When we do revisions, we only put the date. We do have a checked by line for the person who checks it. Quote

It can be a nightmare tying to trace back which draftsman did what and what draftsman did he copy something from. Quote
