2008 cui problems

Right, so I finally got going with 2008 after I hadn't bothered using it yet since all my drawings (though directed at 2008) still defaulted to 2007. Don't ask me why, I have 3 versions of Autocad on my computer here..

I had started up 2008 when it was first installed with no problems, loaded up my profile and worked with it. However, since that day, I haven't used it for reason stated above. But now I have been forced to because of office updates, etc..However, it would not load any of the CUI files, so I directed them manually after I finally figured that out. However, I am still not able to use my keyboard shortcuts. I never customized them in 2007 and don't really dabble in that much, I only use basic shortcuts for polylines, trim, extend,shapes,etc..Any clue as to why this does not work and possibly how to remedy this? I mean, 'make good'. :geek:

Errr..my work seems to have done the trick after I restarted it. (No thanks to the IT guys here..boo) However, I still have the problem that drawings open in 2007 though they should be (I just defaulted it again to 2008) opening with 2008 obviously. I do also get an error message about profile loading with 2008 still. So confusing.

I'm not sure I understand your problem completly, best way to tackle this is one thing at a time. I think you have 2 seperate things going on.

What error are you getting related to your phrofile? you could export your 2007 profile in options, and import it to 2008 if you haven't already.

I have my profile loaded in 2008 exported from 2007, however, it gives me the error: "Unable to load profile, some settings from last session might be lost", but it's been saying that from before I even had my profile loaded which I couldn't do until I had managed to path correctly some cui files.

As for my other problem, I have found out I have had to manually set up all the necessary paths to the correct folders (from:tools\options > Files menu. At least got my shortcuts working again, and I have managed to link up the correct plot styles, help, drivers, etc... Still some I can't locate, and probably more I will have to locate as I need them and acad cant' locate them.

The profile will import the support file paths, so if they have changed you do have to remap them.

I have had exported profiles then imported them and they were currupt or not contain all the right info, and have to export it again untill It was expoerted correctly.

sounds like you still have both versions still installed so you can compare support paths of the old version to correct any in the new.. I know i'm not much help but good luck

you can change the command for the short keys in the acad.pgp file.

a typical one is to change "C" to Copy, and Circle to "Ci". it's fairly simple to do. you just open it with note pad and scroll down to the bottom.

Thank you for both of your replies. Gonna try to re-import my profile, hopefully should help. Mapping everything takes a long time, managed a lot of it the other day but it all got destroyed by the IT guy trying to be clever..I'm not the only one this has happened to in the office, so could this be a problem that occured during installation cause our IT guy is such a 'n00b'?
