grips grips and more grips

I just got a background from an architecht and i have xrefed it into another dwg. when I click on the background hundreds of grips show up all over the place. not a serious problem but it slows my computer down and takes forever to select the entire xref. which really sucks when you accidentally select it in the first place. Any suggestions?

Try playing with the sysvar Gripobjlimit and/or Gripblock

Try this: Right click the command line and select Options and go to the Selection Tab then click Visual Effect Settings Button and then the Advanced Button and then check the XREF box. Sounds like a lot but takes a few seconds to do. I hope this helps.

thanks for the responses, one of the cads in my office fixed it already, but ill try your suggestions next time it happens.
