Shakey08 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Morning all, I am currently running AutoCAD 2008 LT with Service Pack 1. Currently every drawing I open and try to paste items from other drawings etc.. it freezes and takes around 10-15 mins to actually paste the items in. It is really annoying and drastically slowing my work rate (which is not a bad thing some days!) Can anyone help with this problem and/or point me in the direction of a fix..? Cheers, Andrew Quote
Tiger Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 whats your computer specs? does this happen the very first thing when you open a brand new drawing in the morning? What are the items? Just Lines or heavier objects? It's real hard to say what it can depend on without some more info, hence the followup questions Quote
Shakey08 Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Currently running XP (SP2) with a Intel 2.4 Quad Core processor and 2GB of RAM. Its all objects which are being pasted from other drawings. These range from single lines to full OS mapping. I did have the problem of slow opening of AutoCAD on a morning but that fixed when I installed LT SP1. I have purged drawings etc.. but still have the same issues. Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Try to do a scalelist cleanup first. -scalelistedit>reset>yes do this on both on the dwg file where you copy it and also ob the file where you pase it I wonder how many times ive suggested this before? Quote
wannabe Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Do you get the same problem when inserting blocks? Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It may seem odd, but check the layer manager in the source (copied) file. Many times over the years layers are brought in repeatedly with different blocks. One company I worked for wondered why their drawings took 45 minutes to open. Answer: 25000+layers, no lie. So short answer, try purging the source file first. Quote
