Advanced surface modelling tutorials?

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I would like to have a look at the tutorials/examples for the advanced surface modelling techniques. I need to do model some complex cast parts, but my surface modelling knowledge and experience lies more with NX3, from which Inventor is very different. I am especially interested in learning about filleting/blending/patching complex freeform regions.

Do such learning materials exist?

Thank you. I know about J.D.Mather's tutorials, and I respect him a lot.

When I tried to research the subject I found that there are not enough information regarding surface modelling in Inventor. At least I could find anything except for J.D.Mather's works.

Currently I am effectively forced to invent a set of my own techniques and I would be happy to look through some good tutorials or examples. I bet you know the feeling. :D

There is a forum specifically for users of Inventor. Have you tried looking or asking there?

i do not have inventor 09(i have 10 and 11) but i have found that there are some preloaded examples and parts with the software that you can study/undo. opening up some of the samples helped me out because you can see what operations were used, the base sketches and open up the properties of each operation and adjust them. I dont remember exactly but there are a few folders that have to do surface modeling. Its too bad you cant use NX for this with its mold/die wizard:)

If you have any specific questions i would be glad to try and help but i tend to do most of my complex surfaces in NX5
