jeffd24 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I am new to Autocad I have recently purchased autocad 2009 and have used the raster image to insert a copy of a blueprint but I cannot seem to get it scaled correctly. I don't know if it is a problem in my template that I have created or how I am scaling it. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Quote
rgarjr Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 How are u trying to scale it? Its just matter of of using the sc command and entering the scale factor of the image. Quote
mugshot Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 make a reference line first... scale>base point> (pick) r>(pick the tw0 end point of your reference line) and put the true/exact length of your reference line..... note: your reference line must be based on the image you have inserted... e.g. ref line L=2.111m>3m , then you must put enter new length= 3. Strix Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hello and welcome to CADTutor Here's a stab in the dark, as I don't have AutoCAD to hand choose a line on your 'drawing' that you know the length of. Draw a line on top of this as accurately as possible, then draw one that's the length you NEED it to be Type SCALE follow the instructions for 'reference' (type 'R') basically you're going to tell AutoCAD you want this line here, that's currently this length, to become this specific size *waits for somebody to explain procedure more sensibly* Quote
jeffd24 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 I have done the th scale command selected the image object selected R and traced over the line and inserted the dimension. That part I can get to work I guess the problem is after it resizes the drawing it is several time bigger than my template, so I think the problem may be in the scale of my template. My prints are set to be 36" x 24". when I shrink the image back down to fit into the template and trace over my line it changes the dimension. Maybe I didn't explain it very well the first time here Thanks Quote
jeffd24 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Another thing that I have ran into is on another page I have inserted some images with the raster image and it is putting a frame around the imageas, is there a way to turn of the frame?. I am searching yhrough my book now Thanks Quote
rgarjr Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 imageframe setvar. 0 to turn it off, u wont however be able to select the image afterwards. Quote
mugshot Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 that is the use of the reference line... be the one one to adjust according to your template... never mind first the dimensions... as soon as you set your image, that is the time that you set your dimension next:wink:. Quote
jeffd24 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Okay, if I am following correctly first I set my image on my template, second I use Scale and set my dimension with my reference line. I think part of my problem is ultimately I need my image to fit a 1" = 20' Engineering scale. The particular line I am using for reference is 37' if I set it to 37' when I scale it, it enlarges it alot bigger than my template. I have tried 18.5' however it still comes out wrong when I put my line back over it, that is why I am thinking it might have something to do with my template Quote
jeffd24 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 I did get the frame off, by setting the value to 0 Thanks Quote
Strix Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 ... well in that case, draw the full size line I described, then scale it down to your 1" = 20' (don't ask me to do imperial scaling at 5am), then scale your image to the already shrunken line Quote
