im usuing 2008 civil 3d
i cant get the task pane to display
i've tried typing in "mapwspace" and i get this
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008\acmapworkspace.arx is an invalid ARX
file.
Unknown command "MAPWSPACE". Press F1 for help.
i've tried going to the map options and have task pane display when civil 3d starts up...but its a no go
anyone have any suggestions?

Check and see if you can bring it up by going to VIEW > Task Pane.

nope its not under there either
i am thinking that some package wasnt selected during the loading process.

Unfortunately I think you might need to reload the program.:(

Try a repair install first, then a full uninstall/reinstall after.

I was having this same problem with 2009 trying to get a .ecw image to show up. I did the 'repair program' and that worked for a little while, but the problem came back. To get the 'Task Pane' option to show up under the 'View' Menu i did the following:
At command prompt, type 'Options',
Click on 'Profiles' tab,
Select '<<Unnamed Profile>>' or 'Vanilla'
Click 'Set Current'
Then, the 'task pane' showed up under the view menu, and i could use the display manager.
I am also running Carlson2009 for mining/mapping purposes, and it likes to change what the menu bars contain when switching around the modules. This is how i got my task pane back.
