BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Can anyone provide me with some small dwg files that I can practice with? Quote
dbroada Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 what parameters are you after? Dynamic block ones? I have attached a couple of (metric) ones i use all the time for detailing terminal rail assemblies. The terminal rail just has some stretch actions, the terminal group an array. It also has a formula - don't fill in the attribute, it will break the formula - to calculate how many terminals you have made. Stretch the group and regen. The attribute also has a move action. JBullseye74 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Nice block Dave - i like the formula i can adapt that to use in my blocks. Quote
ReMark Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yes, BIGMIKE what exactly are you looking for? I have a handful of mechanical drawings I could share. We're talking 2D, 3D or both? Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 In the textbook there is an example of a Visibility parameter of two types of speedometers. One speedometer is metric the other is Imperial. I don't see how the two can be superimposed into a single selectable block. Another one is Lookup parameter that shows four insertions of a dynamic block representing a raised-face weld-neck piping flange. Belay all that! How about if I draw the preliminary and annotate the file. I will get to work on designing the two above. Quote
ReMark Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I can see clearly now. We're actually talking about dynamic blocks. Thank you. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 3 points for using belay in a sentence. I see that word of the calendar I got you last Christmas was a good investment:P . Go ahead and post your sample blocks, theres a good chance you may discover the answer in the process. And if not, well...I love messing with dynamic blocks. Quote
dbroada Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 OK, a 19" blank panel with visibility controled by a lookup table. BlankPanel.dwg Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 Yes! Messing with these drawings is very helpful. Hopefully by the time you have worked out a solution I may have something too. But still I appreciate all the help. Go Eagles! CHP10_541_PARAMETER_VISIBILITY.dwg Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 The TG-WDK2 file won't open, and the other two issue a warning that I need to open them up in a Authoring window, and when I do they lose their parameters. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 You need to save it somewhere and then insert it as a block. It will come in dynamic so don't explode it. Here's an explanation I put together for your exercise. You'll still have to make the speedometer though. I'll help, but I won't do your homework. The second version is for 2004 or later releases. Not sure if the dynamic elements will remain. CHP10_541_PARAMETER_VISIBILITY[Example].dwg CHP10_541_PARAMETER_VISIBILITY[For 2004].dwg Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 You guys were right, I think I got it on this one. I am going to work on another file that has a nested block in it. CHP10_541_PARAMETER_VISIBILITY 002.dwg Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Good to hear. Let me know where you're holding the after party for the Iggles victory. Fed Ex field is just another home game Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 I got the Blank Panel from Dave inserted and will try to figure out how he got it together. I am now going to try my hand at a Polar Parameter. The book assignment is leading me in the direction of a mobile crane. More later, its late at night here in PA and I have a couple of hours before I go to bed. So I give it a try. More later. Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Here you go with I'm the same. Thank You! I AMTHESAME.dwg Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 This is great. I like challenging myself. Please find my base sketch enclosed. The book shows me a move from 40 degree to 66 degrees with a stretch movement as well. POLAR PARAMETER CRANE.dwg Quote
