Help... can open drawing without entring DWG number

hey there guys, hope you can help me.

i got autocad 2008, and i have some problem, when i do File -> Open.... it ask me to enter drawing number.... i believe it is something in system variable, but i was wondering if anyone can help me to sort it out so that i don't have to entre drawing number on my command box and i could just navigate the drawing like before this happens, thanks for all your helps, venu:cry:

I think what sorales was saying is that it needs to be added to the

FAQ. as it's not in there at the moment.

It needs to be in bold red letters in the forum header with pickfirst =1

I have to admit to looking for FILEDIA first - the term I knew. The problem with FAQs is usually finding the correct search term so I may have cheated a bit.

 

and ghost rider, that is my problem with FAQs too. I'm not convinced people would even read big red letters. :)

The bigger question is why does it flag itself off so frequently.

possibly/probably from LISP routines not resetting it correctly. I don't know if there is a keyboard shortcut that toggles it that could be done by mistake. I used to turn it off if I was opening several files in a row from a script as leaving it on would cause the routine to stop, waiting for an input. I don't think this is necessary anymore but my routines don't get updated very often and I guess I'm not alone there.
