mshearer Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I have a series of files that have ballooned in size from 150Kb to upwards of 2Mb. I am trying to go through and clean them up (using -scalelistedit, purge, audit, Spurge) and it seems to bring them down to their original size. My question is: what could've made these files so large in the first place? I hadn't created any new linework, dimstyles, etc...in any of the files and all of them seemed to grow in size overnight. Any suggestions? Quote
ReMark Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Just moving from one version of AutoCAD to another will increase the size of a drawing. A good example would be a drawing created using AC 2000 or 2004 being opened then saved in 2009. Without making any additions/deletions or corrections to the drawing the file size will increase substantially. Quote
mshearer Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 We have ACAD08 in the office and most users are saving to ACAD04 (& autosaving to ACAD04) so that consultants on older versions can receive files. Would saving the 08 files to 04 and then reopening them in 08 add to the file size? Thanks in advance. Quote
