Well you'll need a circle (obviously) and a good representation of one of the teeth. The use of a circular array would get the teeth depicted around the circumference of the circle then trim away what isn't required. It would help if the tooth you make is one entity (need to use the PEdit command). That way, when you array it you won't be dealing with lots of little line and/or arc segments.

Well, let's get a base idea of what you're starting with. How familiar with ACAD are you?

If you're not too familiar, then you may want to spend some time getting used to getting around the interface. :D Otherwise half of what everyone says here may be a bit confusing.

If you got the basics down, then I would suggest making sure you have an image to work from that's fairly simple to use. If you have a digital copy of that image you can trace it by inserting the image into your drawing.

If you're wanting to draw it yourself, then grab a ruler and start measuring the important aspects of the image.

I wish I had more time to sit down and go step by step with your, but I was actually on her looking for something else entirely for my project I'm working on and decided to get the ball rolling for you.

And because I'm too busy multi-tasking, Remark beats me to it. Perhaps I'll just stick to working when I'm working and helping when the work has quieted down.

*slinks off to her corner of ACAD to get back to work*

Good Luck with it Dave!

might help to do an array beforehand (of just a line @ equal spacing) depicting the number (and size/degree's apart) to allow for the length of the tooth, draw it to that scale and then array it? will avoid any overlap thus alot of trimming (work)

just a thought....:)

DFnH to the rescue. Yep, I like that idea (saving work). :)

Thank all of you guys, for your responses. I'm in college right now taking some drafting classes along with cad but I'm still a beginner, I do like taking the time to go out there and experience with things I haven't yet learned in other words I like familiarizing myself with cad before i advance in a higher cad class.

I will now try some of your suggestions. You guys make me feel like part of the family. Thanks again. :D
