BenE Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hey All, I've got another rookie question. I'd like to be able to take the text from a .dwg and put it in to a .doc. Is there any way to do this? -Ben Quote
soleary Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hey All, I've got another rookie question. I'd like to be able to take the text from a .dwg and put it in to a .doc. Is there any way to do this? -Ben In AutoCAD, type "ddedit" without quotations and select the text you want to copy. Ensure that the text is highlighted. Hit CTRL-C for copy. Open your .doc file, hit CTRL-V for paste. Quote
BenE Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 this appears to only work on single text entities. Is it possible to select all and copy? I've got about 1,000 words to copy. Quote
soleary Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 this appears to only work on single text entities. Is it possible to select all and copy? I've got about 1,000 words to copy. If the text is in different locations i.e. inserted using separate commands, then I don't think it's possible. It seems like a strange request (no offense intended) - but even if you could do this, wouldn't you have to format everything in Word anyway to get your desired result?? Quote
lpseifert Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Use Txt2Mtxt, select the text you want to export to make them Mtext; Highlight > Ctrl+C > Ctrl+V Quote
BenE Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 none taken. I'm taking a list of standard abbreviations that had been drawn in acad and using most of the text in an appendix for the office standards. It's just time consuming zooming on each word and jumping back and forth between programs. Quote
BenE Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 wow, nice trick! Those two tricks together did exactly what I needed. And yes, now I get to format for the next hour. =) Thanks, -Ben Quote
smorales02 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 just highlight the text copy it and paste into word....does that not work?? Quote
BenE Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Well, it might, but I tried earlier and it crashed AutoCAD AND Word. Quote
soleary Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Use Txt2Mtxt, select the text you want to export to make them Mtext; Highlight > Ctrl+C > Ctrl+V I assume this only works if the text is drawn using DTEXT? If there are various "Mtexts" in different locations, then I don't think it's possible to copy them all together. Or is there a way to do this? Quote
soleary Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Explode them first. Nice solution! Good to know Quote
