is there a way to xref a viewport to another drawing?

i need to reference a viewport into another drawing. as far as i know i can only get the xref to only reference the entire drawing. how can i do this to only a certain portion of the drawing??

try using XCLIP

I i think that might work. not exactly what i was looking for though. that uses an existing xref. i want to create an xref using a specific group of objects
