Menolik Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 When subtracting two objects, occasionally I will get this message - Null solid created - deleted, and both objects will be deleted. What could be the reason for this? Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Are you attempting to subtract the object from itself? Quote
ReMark Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 The objects themselves may have become corrupted? Try one of these and tell us if it works (allows you to perform the subtraction). 1. Move the objects to a different location and try the subtraction. 2. Close the drawing then reopen it. Try subtracting. Quote
Menolik Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 These are separate objects I am subtracting. I had no luck with those two suggestions. Quote
ReMark Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 How separate??? They can't be standing 24" away from each other. One object must be in contact with the other. WBlock each object out to the hard drive. Open a new drawing. Insert both objects (make sure they are not treated as blocks). Try subtracting. What is the result? Quote
shift1313 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 the null solid issue arises usually if there is a very small space left somewhere inside the object. If the areas between the two solids are just that, solid, there shouldnt be an issue. But if you have some weird curves, gaps or spaces you will get the issue. Quote
Menolik Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 thanks for the info. I guess I'll just remake them. Quote
ReMark Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Could you post the drawing so we can see it? Quote
