Airtec Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I moved from acad 2000 to 2009. My crosshair hesitates over every dimension line. Also almost impossible to use grips on the dimension lines. Anyway to turn this off? Airtec Quote
brawleyman Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 When you put your crosshair on anything, does it change to be thick or dashed? It is a new feature that I cannot stand where it automatically "hightlights" objects, text, etc. Yes, you can turn it off. Go to Autocad's "options" menu and click on the "Selection" tab. Under "Selection Preview" uncheck both boxes and it will turn off completely. You can play with the different settings if like some things like the colored selection area. Hope that is what you are looking for! Quote
Airtec Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks but that did not help. The crosshair stops when I move it across any dimension line. When I keep moving the mouse past it the crosshair hesitates on the line. Quote
Hedgehog Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Is it happening on all drawings all of the time or a specific drawing or set of drawings?... does it happen on a new, blank drawing? Quote
Airtec Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 I just started using 2009. My old drawings did it and I just made a new drawing and it happens on it also. Quote
Hedgehog Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 OK... I've known video card drivers cause jittery crosshairs (tho' not over specific entities)... but it won't do any harm to check here... http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/hc?siteID=123112&id=6711853&linkID=9240618 ... & do an update if required. MHarkins Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I find that if the properties pallet is on there is a very disruptive hesitation with the cursor / crosshairs. Turn the properties dialog off and it goes away... The dimensions properties pallet is large with a ton of information that has to be refreshed each time you hover-over or pick a dimension... that's what is causing the hesitation. IMHO that is not a good excuse since the properties dialog is a valuable tool I think there should be a setting like in excel to turn off realtime calculations. Hope this helps though. Quote
Dadgad Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 It is not as useful in ARCHITECTURE as it is in vanilla AUTOCAD, but I always run my quickproperties palette, because it can be customized to personal tastes. Giving you just the information you typically might want from any of the myriad different types of objects. Set custom ones for each type of object, you'll be glad you did. Quote
BlackBox Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 If you've jumped from 2000 to 2009, you may need to upgrade your hardware also. Make sure your setup meets the minimum system requirements. Setting your options regarding entity highlighting (as suggested above) can be a factor for many users. Separately, AutoCAD is single threaded, which means each time an entity is selected the properties palette is updated. This hold true for both the full properties palette as well as quick properties. BlackBox Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Also, Autodesk's support policy only supports Flex licsensing for the latest three (3) versions, which means when 2013 comes out next March (we're in Beta testing now), that your 2009 licsensing may be an issue. Something your CAD/IT Manager should already be aware of, or at least be anticipating. Quote
ReMark Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Hey guys, the post you're responding to is nearly three years old (15-16 Jan 2009). I really hope the OP solved his problem by now. Quote
BlackBox Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 I usually check the prior couple of posts first, and in this case it should have been three. Posted from my iPhone while the Fiancé was trying on clothes at the mall today. LoL Quote
