Can this be done?

The model needs to eventually end up in Solidworks. I won't need to edit it but to be able to create a section from it, it needs to be a solid.

If I can get it to be a 3D solid .dwg then I know I can import into Solidworks.

Currently I only have meshes.

Edit - Just want to add - I have recieved 3D models in both DXF and STL format. An STL imported in Solidworks produces an 'STL Graphics' which is useless.

I can import the DXF, but it's not a solid nor does it give me any options, it's not even using Solidworks surfaces hence why I imported into Max hoping I can do something from there.

You can make a solid modell in AutoCAd and export it to SAT (acis).
I am prettyu sure SolidWorks can import SAT.

You can import a .dwg 3D model straight into Solidworks but I'm not producing this particular model. It's from an external source who are using a package called Madusa.

Waiting to hear if we can get a different format but if not then I need to turn a 3D Mesh into a solid. The Knit function is not workng in Solidworks, and I have no experience with surface modelling in Solidworks to know how to fix this.
