Photo Integration

I was wondering if there is a way to download digital photos into solidworks and use that to design off of.

It would help with making designs quicker wouldn't it?

you can insert an image into a sketch with
Tools | Sketch Tools | Sketch Image

if you get solidworks there is a tutorial dealing with consumer product modeling that uses a hand sketch of a cell phone to aid in the housing design. It will go through exactly what you are asking.
